Sundance Airport Specifications

Terminal Building

The main terminal building at Sundance Airport measures 130' x 170' and contains approximately 30,000 square feet in a two-story combination of offices and hangar space. The 80' x 20' main hangar doors are electrically operated and the maintenance portion of the main terminal building has its own heating system, thus enabling it to be leased separately from the remainder of the facility.

Adjacent to the terminal building is a newly constructed storage and modification hangar facility. This building measures 120' x 120' with an attached office/shop area measuring 100' x 20'. It has a 30' eave height with an electrically operated 90' x 27' door. This building is large enough to accommodate Gulfstream IV size aircraft.

There are 15 individual offices in the terminal building, a beautiful lobby area, pilots lounge/shower facilities and large private conference room. The facility is zoned into five separate areas with each zone served by an individual heating and cooling system. The entire terminal building is also equipped with a fire/safety sprinkler system.

Hangars

Sundance has 190 fully enclosed "T" hangars. 150 of these consist of "red-iron" super structure, bottom-rolling doors and all concrete floors. Of these, 18 hangars were built as small hangars, but in reality each has considerably more space than most airport's large hangars. Specifically, the doors are 43 feet wide. Medium, large and "end long" hangars proportionately increase in space. Our most recent edition includes 40 new T-hangars built on the north side of Sundance. These are all equipped with bi-fold electric doors, LED lighting and FOR A LIMITED TIME are being offered at special promotional prices.

Fuel

The fuel storage and dispensing system has undergone a complete renovation. The new fuel facility was the first of its kind in the United States and features a self-service complex that can fuel four aircraft simultaneously. Full service aircraft fueling is provided by line service personnel. Modern under-ground fuel storage has a capacity of 30,000 gallons that is expandable as storage requirement demands. This system is electronically monitored for overfill/spill protection.

Runway, Taxiways, Ramps

Sundance has over 12 acres of concrete ramps, taxiways and runway. The construction of the ramps, taxi-ways and runway involved six inches of lime-treated soil, six inches of crushed aggregate and a cap of six inches of Portland cement. Pilot-controlled medium intensity runway lights (MIRLs), taxiway lights, and vertical approach slope indicator lights (VASI) were installed. AWOS is available on frequency 120.975 or by calling 405-283-9848. Unicom air-to-ground radio communications and satellite weather imaging and reports are provided at the main terminal service desk.
